Bill predominantly worked in oils starting in his college years through the 1960's. Over time, Bill became allergic to the oil paints and in the 1970's he began to work with acrylics such as the Flowers in Blue Vase. Bill painted Carol's Floral in about an hour while waiting to be taken to the airport. He set the large canvas on the kitchen counter and began to paint while his brother Dearl and wife Carol watched as he produced a floral arrangement especially for Carol.
The Pitcher and Onions is unique as it contains a self-image of Bill as the decoration on the pitcher. The Landscapes reflect Bill's time in the Northeast and his use of muted colors and broad expansive scenes.
